The festival of Chhath was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety yesterday. Standing in knee-deep water at different ghats of rivers, Ponds and water reservoirs devotees paid oblations to the setting sun this evening.
Puja will conclude after paying offerings to the rising sun tomorrow morning. Our correspondent reports that the whole atmosphere is reverberating with devotional songs.
A large number of devotees have also offered special puja to Sun God at various sun temples including Deo in Aurangabad, Bargao in Nalanda and Ular Sun temple in Paliganj to observe the festival.
The state government has made arrangements in various jails of the state for those inmates who are performing Chhath puja.
This puja is the worship of the Sun God thanking Him for supporting life on earth.
Chhath is celebrated on the sixth day of the Karthik month in the Vikram Samvat calendar.
