Managing Director of State Bank of India (SBI), Rajnish Kumar has been appointed as the chairman of the largest public sector bank. He will succeed Arundhati Bhattacharya, who is at present serving her one-year extension. Her term will end on Friday.Mr. Kumar’s appointment was cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet for a period of three years.
Rajnish Kumar joined the Board on 26th May, 2015 and was currently the Managing Director – National Banking Group. Prior to this Rajnish Kumar was Managing Director – Compliance & Risk, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of SBI Capital Markets Limited, the merchant Banking arm of SBI, Chief General Manager, Project Finance and Leasing SBU.
Kumar has held several key assignments across various business verticals, including two overseas assignments in Canada and U.K.
