Seven Venezuelan military officers killed in helicopter crash outside capital Caracas.  In a statement, the armed forces said, the chopper was heading to San Carlos in Cojedes state. The chopper hurtled into a mountain in the early hours of an overcast day. An investigation was underway.

Two lieutenant colonels as well as five lower-ranking officers were on board the helicopter.

Meanwhile Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro urged his troops to be ready for potential US military action as supporters of opposition leader Juan Guaido marched on barracks in new bid to win armed forces’ support.
