348 died due to Sunstroke in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh

Scorching heatwweather-in-Central-Indiaave continues to sweep several parts of India for last few days. 348 people are reported to have died due to sun stroke in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh as severe heat conditions prevailing in the two states. As many as 162 deaths were reported from Andhra Pradesh while 186 people died in Telangana.

Andhra Pradesh officials confirmed 95 deaths in the past 24 hours alone , due to heat while unconfirmed reports say more than 100 people have lost their lives due to searing heat wave conditions. Prakasam district is the worst-hit with 40 casualties and Guntur followed with 20 deaths on a single day.

In neighbouring Telangana ,56 deaths reported from different districts on Sunday it self . The Commissioner, Disaster Management, B R Meena said that the highest number of deaths have been reported from Nalgonda District followed by Karimnagar and Khammam districts. Meanwhile, maximum temperature of 44.8 degrees Celsius recorded at Ramagundam on Sunday. Hyderabad recorded 42.5 degrees while Nizamabad recorded 45.1 degrees Celsius during last 24 hours.

In Odisha, Titlagarh,the industrial town of Jharsuguda as well as Bhawanipatna in western Balangir district are sizzling at more than 46 degrees Celsius, while most places of the state recorded 40 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the number of suspected sun stroke deaths increased to 26 from 23 with three fresh deaths reported on Sunday.

There will be no respite from the heat wave to the people in Delhi, Haryana and Punjab for the next couple of days. According to Met department, the heat wave conditions will prevail in Delhi NCR, and adjoining areas of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Met Department Director Ravindra Bishen said temperature is soaring in the region because there is no western disturbance at the moment. He said maximum temperature is likely to hover around 44 to 45 degree Celsius during the next three to four days.

Two deaths were reported from West Bengal on Sunday as the state reeled under heat wave.Mercury crossed 40 degrees in several areas of the state.Sriniketan in Birbhum district recorded the maximum of 44.2 deg

In Uttar Pradesh too intense heatwave continues to effect normal life. During the last twenty four hours, the State saw the mercury cross the 41 degree mark in most of the districts. Allahabad recorded the maximum in the state at 47 degrees. Banda and Lucknow sweltering at 46.6 and 44.4 degree Celsius respectively. Weather officials forecast showers at isolated places along with dust storms and thunderstorms in various parts of the state.

People in Rajasthan sweated it out with mercury in Jaisalmer touching 46.5 degree Celsius mark. Kota recorded maximum at 45.4 Celsius degrees followed by Churu at 45.2, Sriganganagar and Jaipur 45.1 degrees each. Barmer with 45 degrees, Bikaner with 44.9 , Ajmer 43.2 and Dabok recorded maximum of 41.4 degree Celsius respectively.

Intense heat wave swept Punjab and Haryana with mercury soaring sharply above normal level at several places in both the states. Hisar remained the hottest place in Haryana as it sizzled at 45.5 degree C, four degrees above normal.In Punjab, Amritsar’s maximum settled at 43.2 degree while Ludhiana and Patiala recorded their maximum at 42.7degree C each, four notches above normal. Chandigarh, joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, had ahigh temperature of 41.7 degree C, four degrees above normal.

For the second day in succession, Nagpur city on Sunday recorded a maximum temperature of 47 degree Celsius as the heat wave in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra continued.

The neighbouring Wardha district was the hottest in the region at 47.5 degree Celsius, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre.

All the major stations in Himachal Pradesh experienced hottest day of the season on Sunday as mercury soared across the state. Una reeled under scorching sun as mercury touched 43.6 degree while the hill station of Shimla recorded a high of 28.6 degree.

In Delhi, maximum temperature was recorded at 45 degree Celsius, which was four notches above normal and minimum was 27.5 degree Celsius, one notch above normal.
