DHARMENDRA PARDHANPetroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said that a 1500 km gas pipeline will be laid at an estimated cost of Rs 6000 crore stretching from Guwahati to Tinsukia via Numaligarh to supply gas to the NE states.

He said, five major oil and natural gas PSUs – ONGC, Oil India Limited, Indian Oil Corporation, Numaligarh Refinery Limited and GAIL – will set up a joint company for this.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the Global Investors Summit ‘Advantage Assam’ in Guwahati on Saturday, the Minister said that earlier the people of Assam complained that the benefit of oil and gas found in the state did not reach them.

He said, the Centre has decided to change the scenario with the cooperation of the state government.
