One person was killed and eight others including two policemen, were injured after a clash broke out between members of two groups in Maharashtra’s Akola city over a social media post yesterday. The incident took place at around 11.30 pm in the Old City area. The police have detained 26 people in this connection and Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) has been imposed in the area.

Collector Neema Arora and other officials held a peace committee meeting. The meeting was attended by representatives of all religions and communities along with leaders of political parties. The State government is constantly in touch with the district administration. The situation is under control now and further investigation is underway.
