University Grants Commission has approved the guidelines for the admission and supernumerary seats for International Students in Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes in Higher Education Institutions in India.
The decision was made during the 560th Meeting of the University Grants Commission held on 18th August. UGC Chairman Prof. M Jagadesh Kumar said, internationalisation of higher education is an essential aspect of the National Education Policy 2020 and helps in integrating the international and intercultural dimensions in higher education.
UGC has also brought out Guidelines for the establishment of Research and Development Cell, RDC in universities and colleges. These Guidelines provide a clearcut road map for the establishment of RDC with its objectives and functions.
In a series of tweets, the UGC Chairman said, the establishment of Research and Development Cell in Higher Education Institutions will enable the attainment of targets of Atma-Nirbhar Bharat.
He said, the move is expected to play a pivotal role in catalyzing multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary and translational research culture mandated in NEP- 2020.
