Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. A K Abdul Momen has said that the proposed Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) will usher in a win-win situation in terms of possible gains in the realm of trade and commerce. Delivering his keynote address at a seminar organised by the High Commission of Bangladesh in Delhi and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) on Saturday, Dr. Momen expressed satisfaction that Bangladesh and India have made remarkable progress in bilateral cooperation during the last decade.

Foreign Minister Dr. Momen said that bilateral trade has been growing steadily over the years and crossed the landmark of 16 billion USD last year despite the challenges posed by the pandemic. He urged the Indian businessmen to invest in the two specialised economic zones of Bangladesh at Mongla and Mirsharai dedicated to Indian investors. He stressed the businessmen and the private investors of the two countries should look beyond the border and work as partners toward building a prosperous and economically vibrant region.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Dr. Momen arrived in Delhi to attend the 7th Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) meeting being held on Sunday, 19th June. The JCC will be chaired by the Foreign Ministers of Bangladesh and India.
