The All India Confederation for Women Empowerment Through Education (AICWETE), an NGO working for the emancipation of woman-folk through education and skill training, has announced a scholarship scheme for economically weak Muslim girls.

The scheme was announced by the AICWETE at function attended by several community leaders here recently.

The scholarship is for girls pursuing higher studies.Scholarship is named as ‘Justice Suhail Aijaz Siddiqui Higher Education Scholarship for Girls’ and it carries an amount of Rs 50,000 per year.

six girls were also awarded a cheque of Rs 10,000 each by Justice Siddiqui along with other dignitaries.

According to Dr. Shabistaan Ghaffaar, Chairperson of AICWETE, the scholarship for higher education will concentrate on helping girls especially from poor economic status, differently-abled girls from across regions, religions, castes, creeds etc so as that they can fulfill their dream of career building in any field. Every year 10- 15 girls will be provided with higher education expenses to an amount of Rs 50,000 for any choices of their career choices, she added.

When asked why the scholarship was named after Justice Siddiqui, Dr. Ghaffaar quipped that it would not be an exaggeration if we can call Justice Mohammad Suhail Aijaz Siddiqui a foresighted philanthropist who with his intellect and golden heart used each and every minute of his life and position for the cause of the deprived ones.

“His understating of the importance of higher education and modern means of technology led him to take all the steps with his mighty position towards the well being of the unreached and untouched by development”.

She also underlined Justice Siddiqui’s contribution in giving institutions a trademark of minority status which can be seen a milestone victory in terms of inclusive education. Due to this a number of students from minority background who were not able to access higher education due to various level of backwardness are now entering these minority institutions and gaining the strength to take a step ahead of poverty and desolation.
It was a cherish moment for everyone present in the gathering to hear the announcement of the scholarship for higher education named Justice Siddiqui as his immense contribution in the field of education led to the coming of girls outside the realm of household
chores and take up education as a getaway from the clutches of societal backwardness.

Among those, who graced the occasion were, Justice Barkat Ali Zaidi, Dr M Khalilullah; Metro Hospital, Mr Syed Farooq; President, Himalaya Drugs, Dr Zafarul Islam Khan, Editor and Publisher Milli Gazette, Mr Naved Hamid, President All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawairat (AIMMM), Mr Sirajuddin Qureshi, India Islamic Cultural Centre, Mr Abdul Rashid, General Secretary,All India Education Movement, Prof Halima Sadiya Rizvi, Dept of Economics, Jamia Milia Islamia and Prof Moshahid Alam Rizvi, Dept of Biosciences, Dr A S Nakedar, President, Trustee and Founder, American Federation of Muslim of Indian origin and many other notables.

It Confederation for Women Empowerment has been running a host of welfare and educational programs for girls and women from the weaker section of the society. It has done a wonderful job by bringing back those girls to schools who left their education in the middle.
