AMN / NEW DELHI

Welfare Party of India WFI has raised strong objections over BJP candidates forcing veiled Muslim women voters to remove their veil and police beating Muslim men in the polling stations during the ongoing Parliament Elections and demanded the ECI to take stern action against them.

National President of Welfare Party of India Dr SQR Ilyas said incidents of Muslim men being beaten and chased away from polling booths and veiled muslim women forced to remove their veils is pouring in from different parts of India like Hyderabad, Sambhal, Mubarakpur, Mansoorpur, Ovari Village and other Muslim dominated constituencies and is done mainly to frighten the Muslims from casting their votes in the world’s largest democracy and called it unfortunate and shameful.

He said this situation of targeting, harassing Muslim citizens, demonising them is alarmingly increasing since BJP party came into power in 2014. The recent hate speech from Prime Minister & Home Minister targeting Muslims has further deteriorated the situation and created an environment of impunity and hate.

He questioned why the Election Commission of India an independent entity has become a caged parrot and is not stopping these attacks even when repeated complaints are registered with them.

He demanded this gross violation of moral code of conduct needs to be booked under sections 171 C (undue influence at elections, 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 505 (1) C (act with intent to incite, or which is likely to incite, any class or community of persons to commit any offence against any other class of community) of the Indian Penal Code and section 132 of the Representation of People Act.
