The Ethics Committee of Rajya Sabha has decided to recommend expulsion of MP Vijay Mallya who is accused of alleged bank loan default and money laundering. However, the committee has given him one week to explain his position.
Talking to reporters, Committee Chairperson Dr. Karan Singh said the panel went through all the details of bank records and other documents and unanimously held the view that he should be expelled from the Upper House.
He said the final decision will be taken in the next meeting of the committee on 3rd of May. Mallya represents Karnataka in the House as an Independent MP. The government has already revoked the passport of the liquor baron to ensure his return to the country.
