Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu today said the teachers must make their instruction learner-friendly and must know each child well and respond to their learning needs.

Speaking on the occasion of Teacher’s Day said, children have different learning styles and teachers have to adopt different teaching methods to maximize learning.

Vice President also gave away the National Awards to 45 Teachers on the occasion of Teachers’ day. The award is given as public recognition to meritorious teachers working in primary, middle and secondary schools.

The awards which were instituted in 1958 carry a Silver medal, a certificate, and fifty thousand rupees. This year’s awardees have been selected under revised guidelines to ensure transparent and fair selection.

Mr Naidu said the teachers should make students learn through activities and this is the basic principle which has been detailed by educationists like Gurudev Tagore, Aurobindo and Mahatma Gandhi.

The Vice President called upon the teachers to transform the country’s classrooms into centres of instructional excellence with the quality education. He said it is because of teachers that the system of education is moving steadily towards greater heights of excellence

In his address, Human Resources Development Minister Prakash Javadekar said, 45 teachers were selected for felicitation on the basis of good performance. He said the initiative is being welcomed by everyone. He said, Government is not only focusing on quality education for the student but also quality training for teachers.
