Harish Rawat Govt in Crisis, 35 MLAs in Delhi to meet Amit ShahUttarakhand Governor K K Paul has asked Chief Minister Harish Rawat to prove majority on the floor of the Assembly by March 28. A senior Raj Bhavan official said, the Governor has written a letter to the Chief Minister in this regard.

The move comes in the wake of the political crisis triggered by a rebellion in the ruling Congress in the state.

Nine Congress MLAs have raised a banner of revolt against the Chief Minister. Opposition BJP claimed that the Rawat government has been reduced to a minority in the assembly.

Claiming the support of the rebel Congress MLAs, BJP said the party should be invited to form a new government. Party in-charge of Uttarakhand, Shyam Jaju said BJP is willing to parade MLAs whose support it enjoys before President Pranab Mukherjee.

Mr. Jaju said, nine Congress MLAs have reached Delhi and are in touch with BJP leaders.

On the other hand, Chief Minister Harish Rawat has asserted that he still enjoys majority and is ready to prove that in the state assembly.

Assembly Speaker Gobind Singh Kunjwal said that the anti-defection law is in place and action will be taken against those found guilty of violating it.
