In Tripura, a Special Police Officer (SPO) has been temporarily suspended from service for being charged with violation of the election model code of conduct (MCC). A statement from the state election department said he was charged with taking part in a political party’s programme on March 28. The Superintendent of Police of West Tripura district Dr Kiran Kumar issued the suspension order today, which said Suman Hossain, SPO of Sidhai police station under Mohanpur block was temporarily suspended from service as the charge lodged against him was proved true. It is the first such incident in the state wherein a police official has been suspended.
