A 16-year-old Tibetan student died Friday after he set himself on fire four days ago to protest against Chinese occupation of Tibet, official sources said. Dorjee Tsering immolated himself last Monday at a housing settlement for Tibetan refugees in Dehradun. He also raised slogans of freedom before setting himself on fire.

Later, he was taken to Safdarjung Hospital in the National Capital where he suffered burn injuries up to 98 per cent. He was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) but succumbed to his injuries Friday. The death of the Tibetan student comes nearly two days after a monk in Tibet burnt himself to death as mark of protest against the Chinese regime.
