Telangana Health Minister E. Rajendra has taken his first dose of COVID vaccine at the Huzurabad Government hospital in Karimnagar district this morning. The state Minister has been among the first who took COVID vaccine during the second phase vaccination that began today across the country. The second phase vaccination has been soft launched from over 100 vaccination centres across the state. Authorities in various districts are also encouraging people to enroll themselves for taking vaccine following the opening of the Cowin registration platform for public.

The state Public Health authorities have rolled out the next phase of Covid Vaccination today at over 100 CoVID Vaccination Centres in Telangana, offering 200 slots on a single day at each centre. Nearly 1 lakh 98 thousand health workers in public and private sectors have been vaccinated so far in the state during earlier phases of Vaccination. The vaccination service will be available for next few days for only those who registered themselves online through COWIN mobile application.

State Director of Public Health, Dr G Srinivasa Rao informed that about 15 lakh individuals who are above 60 years and those who are above 45 years with comorbidities, are expected to receive vaccination during the current phase. The authorities are planning to expand vaccination to about 1200 health care facilities which include about 1000 government hospitals in due course. The health authorities have urged people to enrol themselves first and not to rush to government hospitals for vaccine and get caught-up in overcrowding.
