Indian Shuttler Sourabh Verma will take on Wang Tzu Wei of Taiwan in the Men’s Singles final of the Syed Modi International tournament in Lucknow today.
World No. 36 Sourabh defeated 44th ranked Heo Kwang Hee of Korea 21-17, 16-21, 21-18 in a semi-final match yesterday. In the other semifinal, eighth-seeded Wang thrashed former World Number 1 Son Wan Ho of Korea 21-9, 21-7.
However, former national champion Rituparna Das bowed out of the tournament ending India’s bid in Women’s Singles. She lost to Thailand’s Phittayaporn Chaiwan 22-24, 15-21 in a semifinal match.
Kidambi Srikanth had made an exit on Friday after losing in the quarterfinals. Ace Indian women shuttlers Saina Nehwal and P.V.Sindhu have given a miss to the tournament.
