Bangladesh has reported more than one lakh suspected measles cases this year, with the outbreak showing no major sign of slowing despite an ongoing nationwide vaccination campaign.
According to a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) bulletin issued on Monday, the country recorded 1,004 new suspected measles cases and four more suspected deaths in the past 24 hours.
Between 8am Sunday and 8am Monday, 141 measles cases were confirmed, while no confirmed measles death was reported during the period.
Since March 15, Bangladesh has recorded 11,851 confirmed measles cases and 100,211 suspected cases. The DGHS said 93 people have died from confirmed measles, while 623 deaths have been reported among suspected cases.
A total of 80,193 patients have recovered so far, the DGHS added.
