External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has asked the Indian diaspora to pay their debt to their motherland by contributing to nation building. Speaking to the Indian community in Maldivian capital Male yesterday evening, Ms Swaraj said that the Indians living abroad can contribute to India Development Foundation and the money will be used for programmes like Clean Ganga and Swachh Bharat. She said that the contributors can even monitor the spending of India Development Foundation which is being run by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs.

Ms Swaraj reached Maldives yesterday for a two day long official visit. She will co-chair a meeting of the India-Maldives Joint Commission with Maldivian Foreign Minister Dhunya Maumoon and meet President Abdulla Yameen and other senior government officials.
