State government in Telangana has decided to set up a Special Investigation Team to look into the encounter in which five undertrails including alleged SIMI activist Vikaruddin killed in Alair in Nalgonda district. Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao has asked state Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma today to issue orders setting up the SIT.
The Chief Minister’s Office informed that it was decided following doubts raised by various organisations and individuals over the encounter. Following wide spread hue and cry over the authenticity of the encounter that killed five undertrails, the Telangana State Government has decided to probe into the incident. the Chief Minister has aordered that a Special Investibgation Team has to be set up to look into all aspects of the incident.
The alleged SIMI member Vikaruddin and his four aids were killed in a reported encounter on last Tuesday at Alair in Nalgonda district when they were being brought to a hearing at a Hyderabad court from Warangal Jail. Earlier, the National Human Rights Commission has sue motu sought a report from the State police regarding the incident.
Relatives of the suspects especially Vikaruddin family members alleged the incident a blatant use of disproportionate force killing five persons.
Vikaruddin father gone ahead and lodged a complaint at the Alair police station. Political parties like MIM and MBT and People’s union of Civil Liberties also alleged that it was a fake encounter. The formal orders fro setting up SIT are expected to be issued tomorrow.
