The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has declared the network of Shehzad Bhatti, allegedly nurtured by the Pakistani intelligence agency (ISI), as a terrorist organisation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

This syndicate/network is involved in the cross-border smuggling of weapons, explosives and narcotics, besides instigating youths and petty criminals towards terrorism. Targeting India’s democratic framework and communal harmony, the syndicate also used to publish hate-spreading digital content.

Home Minister Amit Shah said that, in furtherance of Prime Minister’s zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism, the Ministry of Home Affairs has declared the Shehzad Bhatti Network as a terrorist organisation.

SBN is an organisation whose objective is to pose a serious threat to the country’s democratic system, communal harmony and internal security by involving innocent youths and local criminals in the cross-border smuggling of weapons, explosives and narcotics, as well as terrorist activities.

Crackdown on the Syndicate-

Last month, before Independence Day, security agencies launched an operation against the Shehzad Bhatti Network in 14 states and busted the terrorist syndicate. During this operation, more than 80 FIRs were registered against the network and more than 200 of its members were arrested.

Funds from ISI-

The group, which allegedly received funding from the ISI, was found in possession of a large quantity of material, including IEDs/bombs, grenades bearing Pakistan Ordnance Factory markings, pistols, ammunition and CCTV cameras used for espionage. The network was involved in several terrorist activities. Shehzad Bhatti’s terrorist syndicate is involved in grenade, IED and petrol-bomb attacks as well as targeted killings in India. It used to pay local associates to conduct reconnaissance of police establishments, defence establishments and religious places and to install CCTV cameras for espionage.

Lawrence Bishnoi’s Friend-

Earlier, videos of friendly relations and video calls between gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and Shehzad Bhatti had gone viral on social media. Now, both are reportedly said to have become enemies of each other. It is because of traitors like Bishnoi that Pakistanis are able to establish their terrorist syndicates in India.
