Supreme Court today asked Karnataka to apprise it by 2 PM tomorrow whether it has released water to Tamil Nadu. On the other hand Centre has sought modification of the apex court order to set up Cauvery Water Management Board.
Meanwhile opposition BJP leaders in Karnataka today said that the Advocate General representing Central Government in the Cauvery water dispute issue will file an affidavit in the Supreme Court today that Cauvery River Management Board cannot be set up at this juncture. This was informed to the media persons by leader of Opposition in legislative Assembly Jagadish Shetter and leader of the Opposition in legislative Council K S Eeshwarappa.
A special session of both houses of Karnataka legislature has been convened today to discuss the issue of releasing Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. The state Cabinet had, on Saturday, decided to defer the release of water and convene the session.
