In view of the huge reduction in revenue receipts due to Covid-19, the Rajasthan government has decided to cut government expenditure. The State government has instructed that funds available for expenditure on various items of the budget for the year 2020-21 such as office expenses, travel expenses, computer maintenance, stationery, printing and publications will be limited to 70 percent.

AIR correspondent reports that, according to the circular, visits for government functions will be kept to a minimum and meetings will be conducted through video conferencing. Officials will be allowed to travel in economy class only. There will now be a restriction on the purchase of new vehicles and equipment.

State banquet will also be banned. The state government has also decided to cut the salaries of Chief Minister, Ministers, MLAs, officers of All India and State Services and state employees. This amount will be used to help the people affected by the Covid epidemic.
