In Kanpur Rahul Gandhi visited the hospital to meet a Dalit girl of Fatehpur. She had been seriously injured and disfigured while resisting an attempt of gang rape by three men. The main accused in the case has been arrested.
Earlier in the day, he met Banda rape victim girl and her family members at Shahbazpur village in Banda district . The family members of the victim expressed fears about security and requested him for adequate arrangements. Meanwhile the judicial custody of all the four accused including MLA Purshottam Naresh Diwedi was extended till 15th Febuary by Banda district court.
The issue also rocked the Assembly. The noisy scenes disrupted its proceedings several times following which the Chairman adjourned the House till tomorrow.
