The Panj Pyaras in Punjab, passed a resolution Friday demanding the resignation of the five takht heads despite being suspended by their appointing authority, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, SGPC. The Panj Pyaras demanded their resignations after five high priests failed to appear before them to explain the pardoning of Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in a blasphemy case.
The Panj Pyaras had summoned the high priests two days ago to appear before the Akal Takht to explain the pardon given to Dera head. However, SGPC suspended the Panj Pyaras for violating the service rules.
