Speaking at the inaugural function of the centenary celebrations of the English daily in ‘The Hitavada’ here Mrs Patil said that it was responsibility of media empower the youth, women and other weaker sections of the society.
Lauding the contribution of the print and electronic media in preservation and strengthening of the democratic institutions in the country, President said that they have to continue the good work and play pivotal role in the promotion of inclusive growth in face of the new challenges emerging in the present era of globalisation. She also stressed the need to inculcate moral values, strengthening the family bonds, communal harmony and social responsibility. Mrs. Patil also urged the media to help curb violence, corruption and ensure speedy and effective implementation of various welfare schemes for the disadvantaged people.
