President Pranab Mukherjee has called upon the doctor fraternity to serve in the rural India especially the poor population of the nation and added that it is the responsibility of doctors to see the health care of nation. He advised doctors to remember their responsibility towards the society of this multi ethnic country. He emphasized upon the need of expansion of the physical infrastructure, more doctors and more Para medical staff in the health institutions. President said that the centre and state governments shall have to work together in this direction.
The President was addressing the Golden Jubilee Convocation of Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) in Himachal Pradesh capital Shimla today. He gave away degrees and medals to medical students of the college. Congratulating the students receiving degrees, distinction and medals, Mr Mukherjee said that the convocation in the life of a student is a memorable occasions as its marks the end of one phase of life.
The state Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and some colleagues of his cabinet were also present on this occasion.
