Political parties flay PM ‘Mann Ki Baat’

AMN

man ki baatPolitical parties have termed the Prime Minister’ Narendra Modi’s today ‘Mann Ki Baat’ as disappointing and misleading. They said that people were expecting from PM to hear what he has to say about Lalit Modi. But he did not utter a word on the serious issue.

Terming Prime Minister’s address as disappointing, Congress wondered why Mr Modi did not touch upon the Lalit Modi controversy. Party senior leader, Ghulam Nabi Azad said, Narendra Modi should take immediate action against those who are involved in corruption or else the Lalit Modi episode will affect Prime Minister’s image.

Azad said, Modi believes in only selling dreams through Mann Ki Baat but why is there no action yet against External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje for helping fugitive Lalit Modi. The Congress leader said the entire nation wants to know what action Mr Modi is taking against Lalit Modi.

When asked whether the Congress will seek Narendra Modi’s resignation in the controversy, Mr Azad said, if the Prime Minister will not take action against the corrupt then it may spark calls for his resignation.

CPI leader D Raja said, Mann Ki Baat programme does not meet people’s expectations. Raja said, Mr Modi should have spoken on the ongoing Lalit Modi controversy. He said, Prime Minister’s silence is questionable.

Aam Aadmi Party also said that Prime minister has left everyone disappointed by not discussing the Lalit Modi issue.

Reacting sharply to opposition’s criticism over the programme, the BJP said, Mann Ki Baat is not a political platform but meant to reach out to the people of the country.

Party spokesperson G V L Narasimha said that the Prime minister touched issues concerning skewed child sex ratio and water conservation which are important for the people.
