Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched Stand up India scheme at a function in Noida Uttar Pradesh . The scheme aimed at promoting entrepreneurship among the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Women by facilitating loans in the range of 10 lakhs to one crore rupees. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Modi said, stand up India will empower every Indian and enable them to stand on their own feet.
He said, the scheme will help transform the lives of people belonging to Dalit and Tribal communities. He said, if Dalits and poor people are given opportunities, they can bring in various reforms in the country. He said, through Stand Up India initiative, the government intends to turn job seekers into job creators.
Mr Modi also recalled the contribution of former Deputy Prime Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram on his 108th birth anniversary saying that he made India very proud. The Prime Minister also unveiled a web portal for the Start up India initiative to enable online registration and support services. On the occasion, Mr Modi also handed over the keys of 5100 e-rickshaws to the beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojna.
