Defence Minster Manohar Parrikar today said the government had approved the “maximum” it could do to meet the demand of One Rank One Pension, OROP. Talking to media in Goa today, Mr. Parrikar said those who are opposing the OROP notified by the government has been misled. Mr. Parrikar reiterated that if any issue has to settle, the personals should approach the judicial commission to be set up to look into the matter and they need not return their medals.

The Defence Minister today commissioned the India Coast Guard off Shore patrol vessel (OPV) ‘Samarth’at Vasco in Goa. On the occassion he said that in the coming days coastal borders of the country will be more safer.

The Ship built by Goa Shipyard limited is the first in the series of six off Shore Patrol vessels. The 105m OPV is fitted with most advance technology, navigation and communication equipment, sensors and machinery. Mr Parrikar further said that the work on the 32,000 crore mine counter measure vessel (MCMV) project allotted to Goa shipyard limited has started and it will complete in time, he added.

In the present security scenario with increased threat from maritime terrorism the induction of a sophisticated and state of the art Offshore Patrol vessel, will provide the desired fillip to the maritime protection of the coastal state of Goa in particular and the India coast in general.
