NPF Chief Shurhozelie Leizietsu to be next CM of Nagaland

 

Nagaland Chief Minister designate Shurhozelie Liezietsu Monday called on the State Governor P B Acharya, and formally staked his claim for formation of new Government.

The Governor appointed the leader of Democratic Alliance of Nagaland as the Chief Minister and invited him to form the Ministry for which the swearing in ceremony will be taken on Wednesday at Raj Bhavan Kohima.

In his acceptance speech, Dr Shurhozelie promised to take every possible step to bring normalcy back in the State.

Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu addressing the legislators after been elected as the Leader of the DAN legislature party this morning, lauded TR Zeliang’s sacrifices of vacating his chair to save Naga people from going into further turmoil. Dr Shurhozelie also called upon the DAN legislators to forgive one another if there have been differences among them and to move ahead together for the good of the Naga society.

The Eighty-one year old regional political leader Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu of DAN legislature Party would be sworn in as the 17th Chief Minister of Nagaland on 22 February morning at the Raj Bhavan Durbar Hall, Kohima.

Meanwhile congratulating Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu for being unanimously elected as the leader of the DAN Legislature Party, outgoing Chief Minister TR Zeliang expressed confidence that the state will benefit immensely from his experienced leadership and statesmanship.

Further, TR Zeliang who stepped down as the Chief Minister of Nagaland was unanimously elected as the Chairman of the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) Co-ordination Committee, the post which was earlier occupied by the Chief Minister designate Dr Shurhozelie till date.
