Tamil Nadu Governor Vidyasagar Rao’s office has clarified that he has not sent any report to the Centre on the prevailing political situation and formation of the government in the state.
Rejecting media reports, Principal Secretary to the Governor, Ramesh Chand Meena said in a statement that no report has either been sent to the Union Home Ministry or the President.
Political uncertainty continues in the state amidst the power tussle between the two warring factions of ruling AIADMK. Both sides – one led by care-taker Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and other by party General Secretary and Chief Minister designate VK Sasikala – met the Governor and staked claim to form the new government.
The Governor is, however, said to be considering various options on the issue. Principal opposition DMK has asked the Governor to facilitate an open voting on the floor of the House to choose the next Chief Minister.
