NEW DELHI: (AMN) The government today said that there had been no report of any fresh attack on Indian students in Australia. Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal refuted the news reports about thrashing of an Indian student in the suburbs of Melbourne. He said that it has not been confirmed by the mission in Australia.
“Indian High Commissioner had several meetings with the concerned ministers of Australia on the attacks on students there and has conveyed New Delhi’s concern to them” the minister told Rajya Sabha.
The Minister added that Australian government has undertaken various measures for safety and protection of Indian students as India had strongly advocated for stringent measures to stop such attacks. He also dismissed the report that Indian students are unable to return to India because of collapse of several colleges, refusal to renew student visas and the violence against Indian community there.
