Supreme Court today awarded 25-year jail term to Vikas Yadav in Nitish Katara murder case. Vikas Yadav, his cousin Vishal and their aide Sukhdev Pehalwan have been convicted in the 2002 Nitish Katara murder case. Sukhdev has been awarded 20-year jail term.

The apex court pronounced the verdict on the appeals filed by Vikas and Vishal against the Delhi High Court order which had enhanced the life term to 25 years in jail without remission and an additional five years for destruction of evidence in the case by terming the murder of Katara as honour killing.

The Supreme Court had, in August last year, upheld the conviction of the three accused.
