NITI Aayog has convened a Stakeholder Consultation on Implementation of the Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India (SHANTI) Act 2025.
The consultation, which was held in New Delhi yesterday, brought together key leaders, policymakers and experts from the government, research institutions and industry to deliberate on the operational framework of the landmark Act. Technical discussions were structured around three critical pillars vital to the Act’s successful rollout.
These include Legislative and Regulatory Framework; Finance, Insurance and Public Perception; and Manufacturing, Operations and Capacity Building.
On the occasion, stakeholders provided a range of views across all three critical areas, which will be useful in strengthening the implementation framework of the SHANTI Act 2025.
The SHANTI Act 2025 is a comprehensive overhaul of India’s nuclear energy framework aimed at achieving 100 gigawatt capacity by 2047. It replaces the Atomic Energy Act, 1962, and the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Act, 2010.
