Nine elected memebers from five states took oath today as Rajya Sabha members. They include five from Congress, two from CPIM and one each from BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal. Of them, six are new members and three others were re-elected. Ripun Bora, Ranee Narah, Anand Sharma, Pratap Singh Bajwa, Shamsher Singh Dullo are all from Congress.
The CPIM members are K Somaprasad and Jharna Das Baidya. The two other members are Shwait Malik of the BJP and Naresh Gujral of the Shiromani Akali Dal. Chairman Mohammed Hamid Ansari, who administered the oath of office to the members, welcomed the newly elected and re-elected members.
