The National Human Rights Commission has sought an action taken reports from six district Collectors and Superintendent of Police over alleged farmers’ suicide in Odisha. The apex human rights watchdog passed the order acting on a petition filed by a Supreme Court lawyer.
The petitioner has requested the Apex human rights body to investigate the alleged farmers suicide case and direct the State to take legal action against the errant officials and pay compensation of 30 lakh rupees to the family members of the deceased farmers.
