SAARCNepal today urged the SAARC member states to ensure that their territories are not used for cross-border terrorism so that peace and stability is established in the region.

As current Chair of the SAARC, the Himalayan nation emphasized the need for creating a conducive regional environment for the Summit.

In a statement, Nepal Foreign Office said, it will initiate necessary consultation on successful holding of the Summit with the participation of all member states.The statement came days after decision of five countries including India to boycott the summit to be held in Islamabad indirectly blaming Pakistan for creating non-conducive environment.

Kathmandu says it strongly believes that an environment of peace and stability is essential for a meaningful regional cooperation.

Expressing its solidarity in the global fight against terrorism, it condemned the terrorist attack on Indian army base in Uri which resulted in the loss of life of 19 Indian soldiers. Kathmandu said, it condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
