modi2Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday said NDA government was  pro-poor and pro-farmers and accused the opposition of projecting the Centre as anti-poor on the issue of Land Acquisition bill. Addressing BJP MPs workshop in New Delhi, Mr Modi said common man is in the center of every step taken by his government and lies are being spread on Land Bill by those whom he described as perverted minds.

Mr Modi refuted the allegation that the Centre is working for corporates, and wondered whether providing facilities of housing to all, toilets, hospitals, education and other basic things are against the poor.

Highlighting the measures taken by the government in its 10-month rule including curbing price rise, launching of Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana and compensation to unseasonal rain affected farmers, Mr Modi said that the initiatives are intended to benefit the poor.

Refuting the allegation that the Centre is working for corporates, Mr. Modi said whether providing facilities of toilets, hospitals, education and other basic things are against the poor. He said his government does not strive for power, but for changing the lives of poor.

Mr Modi said the government is implementing the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme to provide education to girl child, and girls from minority communities are benefitting from this scheme. Saying that his government has controlled corruption, the Prime Minister said that proving direct cash transfer to 80 per cent of MGNREGA workers has eliminated leakages. He said so far four lakh people have given up LPG subsidy, and savings from this will be transferred to the poor who use wood for cooking.

Highlighting achievements during his recent foreign visit, Mr. Modi said that civil nuclear deal with France and Canada is a big breakthrough and through atomic energy the country has entered into next level of development. The Prime Minister said evacuation of Indians from Yemen is unprecedented and thousands of people had been brought to the country of which, a large number are poor and nurses. Mr. Modi also hailed Union Minister V K Singh for successful evacuation of Indians from Yemen.

Talking about functioning of Parliament, the Prime Minister said that during 10 months rule of NDA government, productivity of Parliament has increased and it has reached 125 percent. He expressed confidence that the second part of Budget session beginning tomorrow will be very productive. He highlighted the works of his government including curbing price rise, launching of Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana, and compensation to unseasonal rain affected farmers. Mr. Modi asked party MPs to counter the opposition and go to the people and highlight the achievements of the government. He also took a dig at media, saying the good work of the government is not being brought in front of the public.

Our correspondent reports that BJP’s day long workshop for the party MPs will guide, motivate and appraise them for effective implementation of various Central government schemes. The workshop will also focus on the role of Member of Parliament in executing schemes and preparation and follow up for their implementation. It will be addressed by senior Union Ministers besides BJP President Amit Shah.
