The Jammu & Kashmir Government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the killing of a youth at Narbal in Budgam district in Kashmir. One youth was killed and two others were injured when security forces opened fire to disperse demonstrators at Narbal on the Srinagar-Baramulla Road today.

One seriously injured youth has been shifted to hospital. Besides, sixteen persons including young protesters and security personnel were injured during the clashes between protesters and the security force personnel.

There were also reports of stone pelting incidents from various parts across valley during day long Kashmir wide strike against Tral youth killings and arrest of hardline separatist Masrat Alam.

District Magistrate Budgam Mir Altaf said District administration has ordered magisterial inquiry into today’s incident and a case has been registered at Magam police station in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

State Police spokesman in a statement said a preliminary inquiry into the incident indicated that the security forces had violated the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during the incident . The spokesman regretted the unfortunate incident and extended sympathies to the bereaved family.

Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani had called for Kashmir-wide strike today to protest against alleged fake Tral killings by Army at Kamla forest in Tral area of Pulwama on April 13, and also arrest of separatist leaders including Masrat Alam.

Meanwhile, two police personnel have been arrested and one officer attached after preliminary investigations by J&K Police established that these officials acted in violation of laid down Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) wherein one 16 year old youth Suhail Ahmad Sofi was killed at Narbal in Central Budgam district today morning.

Police spokesman in a statement issued late evening said that preliminary investigation reveals that Constable Javaid Ahmad had fired with his service rifle on the directions of Incharge police party ASI Manzoor Ahmad, in violation of laid down SOP.

Spokesman said both the ASI and Constable have been arrested in the instant case and further investigation is underway. SHO Police Station Magam Inspector Khursheed ur Rehman has been attached for lack of supervision.
