Community leader and social worker Mr. Navaid Hamid has been elected as the President of the All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat, AIMMM. He has been elected for a term of two year. Election for the post was held on December 20 and result was declared on January 1 2016.
Out of 147 votes polled by 155 eligible voters, he scored 52 votes against Mr. Manzoor Ahmed IPS (Retd.) 47 and Mr. Mohammad Adeeb 45 votes. 3 votes were declared invalid.
Navaid Hamid will be the 7th president of this 50 years old Indian Muslim organisation.
The All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM), is an apex forum of Muslim organizations and institutions of national eminence alongwith some well-known personalities. Deliberative and not agitational, it is basically a non-political body.
According to the AIMMM constitution, the president and the newly elected executive committee will jointly appoint other office bearers shortly.
