NEW DELHI/ LUCKNOW/ Security has been beefed up across the country ahead of Babri verdict on Thursday. Security forces have been kept on high alerts in states of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala and Bihar.


Following tension the Prime Minister dr. Manmohan Singh has made fresh appeal to the nation to maintain peace and  tranquility.


Talking to media persons on the sidelines of a book release in New Delhi on Tuesday the Prime Minister said: “Whatever may be the nature of judgment everyone should make every effort to maintain calm”.  He has also made similar appeal through big advertisement in the newspapers Wednesday.


The  Lucknow  Bench of Allahabad High Court would pronounce judgment on Ayodhya title suite on Thursday at 3.30 PM. 


The Centre has also prepared a contingency plan to meet any eventuality after the verdict is pronounced in controversial case involving religious sentiment of Hindu and Muslims. Centre has identified 16 strategic locations across the country for swift deployment of forces if needed.


The Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh have asked Police and Administrative Officers in all the districts to ensure no anti-social elements could able to vitiate communal harmony in the state. Strict order has been given to enforce role of law where ever necessary.
The Centre has provided about 54 companies of Central Paramilitary forces to the state for security purposes. Additional forces are already deployed in and around at disputed site in Ayodhya and Faizabad .


In Lucknow the Chief Minister Mayawati while appealing the people to maintain peace, reviewed the law and order situation and arrangements that have been made to maintain peace in the state. She directed all officials to deal strictly with anti-social elements.
Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Secretary, Shashank Shekhar Singh told media persons that law enforcing agencies have been directed to keep eyes on all historical, religious and social building and monuments. Security forces have conducted flag march in different district including Ayodhya and Faizabad, Varanasi, Allahabad, Etah, Kanpur and some parts of old Lucknow to instill sense of security among common men.
