In view of forecast of 10 percent less monsoon this year, the Madhya Pradesh government has approved a contingency action plan for farming. The action plan includes setting up of control rooms at state and district levels.

The Met Department has predicted that the arrival of monsoon in the state will be late by one week. It would enter the state on June 17-18 and spread all over the state by June 25. State’s Krishi Cabinet has taken stock of the situation and approved a strategy to tackle the situation in case of deficient rains.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed officials to advice farmers to sow early ripening crops. He also said that paddy crops should not be sown in the areas devoid of adequate irrigation facilities. Arrangements of fodder for animals have been made in the state and sending fodder to other states from bordering districts will be banned.
