Congress Saturday accused the Narendra Modi Government of by passing defence procurement procedure in the multi-crore Rafale deal. Congress also questioned why Mr. Modi bypassed the Defence Acquisition Council while announcing a unilateral aircraft deal.
Briefing media in New Delhi, party senior leader and former Defence Minister A K Antony alleged non-transparency and questioned the Centre’s move to buy 36 Rafale fighter jets from Dassault in fly-away condition in the absence of inter-governmental agreement with France. He said, the deal was opposed by several top leaders of the BJP when UPA was in power.
