The minimum temperatures were recorded below zero degrees consecutively for the second day in Ladakh. According to the Ladakh Met Centre, on Saturday the minimum temperatures in Leh and Drass were minus 2.3 degrees Celsius, while maximum day temperatures are recorded at 19.6 and 18.6 degrees Celsius respectively. In the world’s second coldest habitat, Drass, the night temperatures have been falling below zero for the last five days.
Ladakh Met Centre informed that a fresh spell of moderate Rain or Snowfall over the passes on Leh-Manali Highway is most likely in the next two days. Especially, at places like Baralacha La may receive heavy snowfall, which may lead to temporary closure of the Highway.
While Srinagar Met Department forecast that due to westerly disturbance, a fresh spell of intermittent light to moderate rain is likely over Jammu & Kashmir starting from this night till tomorrow. A moderate rain was predicted in the Pirpanjal range during the period. Similarly, the Met Department also cautioned the possibility of a light snowfall in the higher reaches of Gulmarg, Kupwara, Bandipora, Pahalgam, Sonamarg of Zojila and in Zanskar.
