Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju has said the military operation against extremist hideouts in Myanmar is a fitting answer to the ambush against Indian Army in Manipur. Talking to media, Mr Rijiju said the operation was a challenge and the work done by the Indian armed forces is commendable.
Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore has also lauded yesterday’s Army operation in Myanmar. Talking to a news agency in New Delhi he said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had ordered hot pursuit in which two rebel camps were completely annihilated. Mr. Rathore said that the surgical strike inside Myanmar was an unprecedented and extremely bold step by the Government. Asked whether such attacks could be carried out in the western border, he said, western disturbances will also be equally dealt with. Mr. Rathore said the operation was a message to all such neighbours who harbour terror intentions.
Defence analyst Retd Major General Ashok Mehta said the operation reflects excellent synchronisation between political class, intelligence agencies and the military. He said Army has demonstrated its ability to check cross border extremism and sent a strong message to extremists that they cannot take refuge in neighbouring countries.
Meanwhile, Congress has commended Armed Forces personnel for their heroic work. Party spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said in a statement the Army has once again stood up to the high standards and tradition of valour.
