Meghalaya, BJP leader Bachu Marak, has resigned from the party over the Centre’s ban on the sale of cattle in markets for slaughter.

Bachu is BJP’s president of the North Garo Hills district. His resignation comes four days after West Garo Hills district president Bernard Marak made an exit from the party on the same issue. He has submitted his resignation to state party president Shibun Lyngdoh.

After resigning from the party last night, Bachu said beef eating is part of his culture and tradition. He added that imposition of BJP’s non-secular ideology on his community is not acceptable.
