A man was arrested today in Rajasthan’s Pipar city area of Jodhpur for allegedly sacrificing his daughter to appease Allah during the ongoing holy month of Ramzan, police said.
The four-year old daughter was found dead with her throat slit at her residence on Friday morning.
When grilled by the police, the man admitted to have killed his daughter to obtain Allah’s blessings during Ramzan, the police said.
Accused identified as Nawab Ali Qureshi, his wife and two daughters had slept together on the roof of their house.
At midnight, Nawab had taken his four-year-old elder daughter Rizwana as she was very dear to him to their verandah and made her sit in his lap. He then recited Quranic verses before slitting her throat with a sharp-edged knife, according to the police.
When Rizwana’s mother Shabana started looking for her little daughter in the morning, she found her lifeless body in a pool of blood. The mother and the accused rushed her to the hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead.
When grilled by the police, the accused confessed his crime that he sacrificed his beloved daughter to obtain Allah’s blessings during the ongoing holy month of Ramzan and that Satan had taken over him.
