BJP says Cong resorting to politics of mud-slinging

Congress on Monday alleged that former IPL chief Lalit Modi was close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Briefing media in New Delhi, senior party leader Kapil Sibal said Lalit Modi had claimed in an email to Vice-President of Rajathan Royals IPL Team that he was very close to Narendra Modi.

Mr Sibal said documentary evidence suggests Narendra Modi, who was the then Gujarat Chief Minister, and Amit Shah, were involved in manipulating IPL bids with the help of Lalit Modi in 2009.

He cited a BCCI Enquiry Report of 2013 signed by Arun Jaitley which pointed out bid rigging carried out by Lalit Modi to benefit Adani and Videocon groups.

The Congress spokesperson said Prime Minister is silent on demand for resignation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj because of his proximity with Lalit Modi

On the other hand, the BJP termed the allegations as false and baseless. , party spokesperson Shrikant Sharma said, Congress is resorting to politics of mud slinging. He questioned how Lalit Modi fled the country during the UPA rule.
