The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) has secured a historic victory in the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections, marking a major political shift in the state.
The UDF’s decisive performance ends a decade-long rule of the Left Democratic Front (LDF), signaling a strong anti-incumbency wave and a clear demand for change among voters.
Election trends showed the UDF comfortably crossing the majority mark in the 140-member Assembly, with widespread support across constituencies. Leaders within the alliance described the verdict as a reflection of public trust and a rejection of the previous government’s policies.
Reacting to the results, senior Congress leader V. D. Satheesan said that the victory belongs to the people of Kerala, emphasizing that “Kerala has won” with this mandate.
Satheesan credited the people for placing their faith in the alliance and reiterated that the new government would work to meet public expectations and deliver effective governance.
As celebrations broke out among party workers across the state, discussions have now turned to leadership choices and the formation of the next government, with the Congress high command expected to take a final call on the मुख्यमंत्री candidate.
